At Arcus, we strongly believe in the power of personal contact. This is the only way to build long-term relationships. We regularly share the story of one of our colleagues. This month we would like to introduce you to Tom van Geyseghem, sales Belgium.

What does your working day look like?
‘When I come in I first turn on my PC, I put my bottle of water on my desk and then we have a cup of coffee together as a team. I always check my most important e-mails first and I try to deal with them immediately. Then I check the pending quotes and call my clients to answer questions, check quotes and make sure everything is to their satisfaction.’

‘When I receive urgent requests I always try to respond as quickly as possible. My aim is to do this within 5 minutes for customers with really urgent questions. That way I keep my customers happy. That’s nice for our customers, but I like it myself too!’

‘We always have lunch together in the office and then we play a game of table tennis. Sometimes we play for a while after working hours for relaxation after a busy day. In Dordrecht they have the gym and we have the table tennis table.’

‘The fact that we do this together is also good for our team spirit. We are a close and strong team together.’

What do you like most about your work at Arcus?
‘The atmosphere here is really good. I feel absolutely no barrier to stepping up to my colleagues. We are a very close team and that is also because we interact outside of work. That teamwork is very important to me and the best thing about my job. We really help each other and I really like that. Time is always made, even if it’s after working hours.’

Why do you fit in so well at Arcus?
‘I am flexible, helpful and ready for my colleagues. That personal contact with colleagues and clients really suits me. I get along well with everyone. Of our three core values of personal, decisive and knowledge-driven, personal fits me best.’

What do you get a kick out of in your work?
‘When I can really help a customer. If a customer has a problem and I can help him, that’s what I like best. If I then notice that he is really happy and relieved, that really gives me a kick if I can then solve that for him. That’s what I like best. And of course I get a kick every time I sell something, but the biggest kick I get from helping and solving my client’s problem.’

How do you see the future at Arcus?
‘Every day I keep learning and that is also my goal. I also think it’s important to be useful and to really contribute something. I don’t want to sit here and just do my job. I really want to contribute something. What that looks like in the future, time will tell.’
