Lennaert Stemmer

Employee in the spotlight

At Arcus, we strongly believe in the power of personal contact. This is the only way to build long-term relationships. We regularly share the story of one of our colleagues. This month we would like to introduce you to Lennaert Stemmer, Team Leader Operations.

When we want to talk to Lennaert, he just completes a quick phone call because today is a busy and messy day. “There are always too few hours in a day with me,” he says, laughing.

How long do you work at Arcus?
“I have been working at Arcus for more than 14 years. I once started as a temp in Sales Support. I had done Sports Economics, but there was no work in that at the time. After several years of working in the Hospitality industry, I wanted something else. Soon I ended up in the Logistics department. We started with two employees and now I have more than 11 colleagues.”

“The past few years have flown by. I have had different positions. Each time I was able to create my own position and now I am Team Leader Operations. That means I am responsible for everything that comes in and goes out.”

What does a workday look like for you?
“Every day is different. The logistics department is really the beating heart of our organization. We arrange transport for all branches. I mainly manage the various teams. I am also responsible for the customs warehouse. We have our own customs warehouse and I take care of and supervise the entire administrative process surrounding the import and export of goods. I have to continuously ensure that customs legislation is correctly applied. A very nice job, but one that I won’t be able to do any more soon. We are growing so fast that we now want to hire someone to do this. So are you a hands-on person with customs knowledge…?????”

What do you get a kick out of?
“If I’m honest I like to solve problems in a creative way. If there is an emergency, or a challenge with a customer, or something has gone wrong with us. I solve it or I tip my colleague to solve something. And if he then sends me an app in the evening with ‘thanks for the tip, we did it’, I like that. Many of my colleagues have really made progress. I get real satisfaction from helping those boys grow. We also have a really nice team. Some colleagues have also become friends.”

What will the future bring?
“Arcus is growing rapidly. This is not without a struggle. Fortunately, we will be adding on soon. Our warehouse will be twice as big and so will our office. It’s fun to do your part in this. Together with the team we are going to optimize more processes so we can help the client even better.”
