At Arcus, we strongly believe in the power of personal contact. This is the only way to build long-term relationships. We regularly share the story of one of our colleagues. This month we would like to introduce you to Jens Misselhorn, Group Application Manager.

‘October 2022 I joined Arcus Group as Group Application manager. I mainly deal with the IT landscape within Arcus Group. My main goal is to improve our current IT landscape so that it helps us digitize in the future. This will allow us to keep up with the market and make our company even stronger.’

How does a workday look for you?
‘I officially work from our location in Weilerswist Germany, but for my work I travel a lot between our different locations. Every day is different and that’s what makes it so fun and interesting. I organize meetings between the different locations so that the right people are involved. I don’t have a regular day except for some standard monthly meetings. Other than that, every day is different. That’s what makes my job so much fun. I like working in a multicultural company. The different locations, culture and the people make it super interesting and I really like that.’

What do you enjoy most about your work at Arcus?
‘The contact with the different people and the interesting tasks. Everything I can propose and there is a very good connection with the staff and management. The door is always open for a discussion or a suggestion. What you see at Arcus and what I never saw before is that the board members are very involved and have a very clear vision of the future. This helps a lot.’

Why are you a good fit with Arcus?
‘Arcus’ core values of personal, vigorous and knowledge-driven fit me very well, even as an IT professional. I know that the culture and core values are very important and that is felt. They are not only written, but you also feel them within Arcus. This has a great added value in our digital strategy.’

Where do you get a kick out of in your job?.
‘Actually not 1 specific thing. It’s all small different things. The spirit in the meetings, the colleagues who really want to participate in projects, the enthusiasm to improve. Always keeping the company in mind. Our WMS project has really brought Germany and the Netherlands closer together. There is a real focus on the topics and everyone has his or her opinion, but always with the progress of the Arcus Group in mind. That is very nice work.

How do you see the future?
‘I would like to stay here until I retire. I once worked as a salesman for a wholesaler of industrial products for swimming pools. After that, I was a freelancer for several years and worked for an ERP solution provider for the steel industry for 18 years. I started there as an intern, then became a developer, consultant and finally Head of Sales. I really like the development in IT. I’ve always been involved with IT, even when I was a salesman in wholesale. Finally, I switched to IT because that was my dream.’

‘With the improvement of our IT landscape also come changes. In this we have a long way to go and a big challenge for the company. In addition, all employees need to be trained, but everything step by step and very gradually so that everyone can get used to it. This company has enormous potential as a top supplier for the stainless steel. That we can do so much more and so much more efficiently I believe in and we are going to grow in that. That is really a tremendous challenge. That only works if you work on it together and that togetherness is top. Without working together with colleagues from all locations it wouldn’t work. IT is a rapidly developing business so you are constantly learning and you have to do that to keep up.’
